A Slow Spread

Corruption spread very slowly into the Real World. While some wards fell in a matter of weeks the Real World resisted and struggled against corruption for decades. Corruption first seemed to infect the humans, causing them to be careless in their consumption. While many wards had access to magic to combat corruption the Real World was without this weapon. As time marched slowly on corruption became more and more entwined into the workings of the world. Creativty and advancement slowly ground to a halt, and a general malaise took hold.
